Registration, fees & policies

How to register
Online through the archdiocesan Scholastic Testing Service (STS) portal. Choose a date and test site; registration opens August 1 and closes at 11:59 p.m. Central two days before each sitting. After the deadline, call the admissions office of the test site. source

$40Paid by card at the end of registration, or arranged with the school where the student tests.source
Retake policy
Students applying to high schools in the Archdiocese of Boston may take the HSPT only once. source
How scores are used
Each school uses scores its own way. Boston College High requires one entrance exam: the HSPT with a writing sample, the ISEE, or the SSAT. St. John's Prep is test-optional for domestic applicants and accepts the HSPT, ISEE, or SSAT. source
Scholarships
St. John's Prep's St. Francis Xavier merit scholarship ($10,000 a year) requires entrance exam scores by its priority deadline. source

When is the HSPT in the Archdiocese of Boston?

Five Saturdays between October 24 and December 12, 2026, at different schools. Most schools host a sitting on November 21 or December 12. Register on the archdiocesan STS portal and choose the school where you want to test.

How much does the Boston HSPT cost?
