HSPT Central (“we”) runs hsptcentral.com, a study site for the High School Placement Test. This policy explains what information the site collects, what it does not, and the choices you have. The short version: you can read everything on this site and take the free practice test without giving us any personal information at all.
What we collect, and when
Nothing, for reading
Directory pages, guides, lessons, and videos require no account; the only cookies they set belong to the analytics and ad tools described below.
The free practice test
Your answers and timing are scored in your browser and kept only in that browser tab’s session storage. They are not sent to our servers, and they disappear when the tab closes. We never ask a student for a name, email, or any other personal information to take it.
Weekly progress email (parents only)
If your family has an active Season Pass, we email the parent account's address once a week with a short summary of what your students practiced: sets finished, accuracy, and the question types to revisit. The email is sent through our email provider, Resend, and uses only the information already in your account. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops them immediately. We do not email students and we do not knowingly accept email addresses from anyone under 13.
Correction and contact form
When you report a correction we receive what you type, including an email address if you choose to give one so we can reply. Submissions are delivered to our inbox and are not published.
Site analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and visitors. It does not use cookies, does not build profiles, and does not identify individual visitors.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors move through the site. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell returning visits apart and collects your approximate location, device type, and the pages you view. We have IP anonymization and Google signals turned off, we do not use the data for advertising, and we do not connect it to any account or email address. You can block it with a browser setting or an extension that disables Google Analytics, and the site works the same without it.
We also use the Meta Pixel on pages a visitor reaches from one of our Facebook or Instagram ads, to measure how many of those visits lead to an HSPT Central action and to help Meta show the ad to people likely to be interested. It sets cookies in your browser and shares your page visit with Meta while the pixel is active. You can block it with a browser setting or an ad blocker, and the site works the same without it.
We do not use advertising networks or third-party ad trackers that track visitors for another company’s benefit — the Meta Pixel described above is the one exception, since it measures our own ads only.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability. These are retained briefly by the provider and are not used to identify you.
Children
The site is written for parents and for students in grades 7 and 8. It is designed so that a student can use it without providing any personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us through info@hsptcentral.com and we will delete it.
Student profiles are created and owned by a parent. A student is identified by a first name or initials, a grade, an optional test date, and a PIN the parent sets; students never enter an email address, a password, or any other personal information. The parent can delete a student, or the whole account and all associated practice data, from their account page at any time.
How we use information
- To send the emails you signed up for.
- To answer your message or act on a correction.
- To understand which pages are useful, in aggregate.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.
Who we share it with
Service providers who process data on our behalf and only for the purposes above: Vercel (hosting and analytics), Google (analytics), Meta (advertising), and Resend (email). Each is bound by its own privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message, or ask us to remove your address.
- Ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, through info@hsptcentral.com.
- Clear the free practice test results by closing the browser tab.
Third-party content
Videos are embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced player, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Once you play a video, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to that interaction. Links to diocesan and school websites lead to sites we do not control.
Changes
We will post any changes here and update the effective date. If a change affects how we handle personal information you have already given us, we will tell subscribers by email.
