Privacy policy

Effective Monday, September 7, 2026. Written to be read by a parent in five minutes.

HSPT Central (“we”) runs hsptcentral.com, a study site for the High School Placement Test. This policy explains what information the site collects, what it does not, and the choices you have. The short version: you can read everything on this site and take the free diagnostic without giving us any personal information at all.

What we collect, and when

Nothing, for reading

Directory pages, guides, lessons, and videos require no account; the only cookies they set belong to Google Analytics, described below.

The free diagnostic

Your answers and timing are scored in your browser and kept only in that browser tab’s session storage. They are not sent to our servers, and they disappear when the tab closes. We never ask a student for a name, email, or any other personal information to take it.

Email sign-up (parents only)

If a parent or guardian signs up for study emails, we store the email address with our email provider, Resend, and use it only to send the emails described at sign-up. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes the address from the list. This sign-up is for adults; we do not knowingly accept email addresses from anyone under 13.

Correction and contact form

When you report a correction we receive what you type, including an email address if you choose to give one so we can reply. Submissions are delivered to our inbox and are not published.

Site analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and visitors. It does not use cookies, does not build profiles, and does not identify individual visitors.

We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors move through the site. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell returning visits apart and collects your approximate location, device type, and the pages you view. We have IP anonymization and Google signals turned off, we do not use the data for advertising, and we do not connect it to any account or email address. You can block it with a browser setting or an extension that disables Google Analytics, and the site works the same without it.

We do not use advertising networks or third-party ad trackers.

Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability. These are retained briefly by the provider and are not used to identify you.

Children

The site is written for parents and for students in grades 7 and 8. It is designed so that a student can use it without providing any personal information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us through our contact form and we will delete it.

When we launch student accounts, the parent will create and own the account and will be able to delete it and all associated data. Students will be identified by a display name or initials only. We will update this policy before that launch.

How we use information

  • To send the emails you signed up for.
  • To answer your message or act on a correction.
  • To understand which pages are useful, in aggregate.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.

Who we share it with

Service providers who process data on our behalf and only for the purposes above: Vercel (hosting and analytics), Google (analytics), and Resend (email). Each is bound by its own privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message, or ask us to remove your address.
  • Ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, through our contact form.
  • Clear the free diagnostic results by closing the browser tab.

Third-party content

Videos are embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced player, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Once you play a video, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to that interaction. Links to diocesan and school websites lead to sites we do not control.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the effective date. If a change affects how we handle personal information you have already given us, we will tell subscribers by email.
