About this site

Who is behind HSPT Central

One person, two books, and a rule that every date, fee, and practice question on this site is checked or written by hand.

Jimmy McElvanna

Founder, and author of the HSPT prep books below

I wrote the HSPT prep books sold on Amazon, and I built HSPT Central to put the same material online as an interactive, timed course that costs less than a single tutoring session.

I run the site myself. I write every practice question, record every video lesson, and verify every test date and fee in the directory against the diocese or school's own published page.

If something here is wrong or unclear, the fastest way to reach me is the email in the footer. I read every message.

How the content is made

Practice questions
More than 1,000 questions, every one written from scratch for this site and its companion books. Nothing is copied or paraphrased from any other publisher, and the math stays at the 8th-grade pre-algebra level the real test uses.
Video lessons
19 lessons, over 2 hours in all, one per question type, recorded by the author as worked problems with voiceover.
Test dates and fees
38 diocese pages, each checked against the diocese or school's own published page and stamped with the date it was last verified. When a value is not published, the page says “check with the school” rather than guessing. Report a correction if you spot an error.
Score estimates
Any percentile shown on this site is an estimate from our own practice data, labeled as such. We do not have, and do not claim to have, the publisher's official conversion tables.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, and no trackers that follow visitors for another company's benefit.
  • No student emails. A student signs in with a family code and a PIN; the parent owns the account and can delete everything.
  • No subscription. The Season Pass is one purchase, and the money-back window is stated beside every buy button.
  • No official status. HSPT® is a registered trademark of Scholastic Testing Service, Inc., which is not affiliated with and does not endorse this site.

The details are in the privacy policy and terms.
